Display Copy is the multi-media label run by Glasgow based artist Tom Scholefield aka Konx-om-Pax
I am a multimedia artist working with sound and visuals from Glasgow. Since 2010 I have been releasing music on my imprint, Display Copy. I have released three EPs, Light in Extension (2012), Refresher EP (2019), Return to Cascade EP (2020), as well as three albums, Regional Surrealism, Caramel (2016) which was short-listed for Scottish Album of the year 2017 and Ways of Seeing (2019).
I have toured with Mogwai and collaborated with Kode 9, Hudson Muhawke and Lone. I received support from Mary Ann Hobbs and Four Tet for my remix of Skee Mask, as well as playing at festivals across Europe, including Mira and Sonar (Barcelona) and Redbull Music Festival (Istanbul)
Due to the pandemic, I began teaching myself about modular synthesis and generative art, developing systems for creating music with visual art. This new practice spawned my “System Works” series of EPs, which I’m currently self-releasing.
In 2022 I co-wrote the score with BC Smith for a Hollywood action movie titled “The Stowaway” starring Ruby Rose, which premiered on AMC+.
In 2023 Mogwai invited me to record an ambient mix for their BBC 6 Music show. I used this to showcase my latest “System Works” pieces to a larger audience. This year I’m focussing on self-releasing more music and working on commercial sound design. The latest System Works EP will be released digitally in early May 5th 2023, via Kudos Distribution.
